Twelve-year-old River, who watched the trailer in July 2024, shared his experience from August 3, 2024:

"He had a nightmare about a demon named Groovy, which left him feeling really scared. He woke up and went to the living room, where he clicked the Foxtel logo, thinking it was just another fun SpongeBob movie. But then, Sandy appeared on the screen and said, 'GOOOOD MOOORNING BIKINI BOTTOM!' Her voice turned creepy, stretching out like an echo, and suddenly everything became terrifying.

Patrick showed up with a twisted, Kirby-like face and bloodshot eyes, staring right at him through the screen. He was frozen with fear, and Patrick's laugh started—loud and haunting, like he was trying to get to him. It felt so real that he had to run out of the room. He just couldn't handle it anymore.

He didn’t want to watch the rest of the trailer. He was too scared, and he just wanted to be left alone. That was one of the most terrifying things he’s ever seen."
